Amber Edmondson (she/her) co-founded Women Skate the World and is the Programs Director for Free Movement Skateboarding. Using skateboarding as a tool for empowerment is what brought her to Palestine, Iraqi Kurdistan and Athens. Now she’s working to make skateboarding more inclusive while she’s looking after our Women’s Program. Other than skateboarding she is passionate about her dog, Scrappy.
Kim Butter is a 22-year old skateboarder from Rotterdam and the pronouns she uses are she/her/hers. She is obtaining a BA degree in cultural studies right now and she organises events here and there. She joined Women Skate The World after meeting Nanja in 2018, quickly discovering having a shared dream of setting up an empowering skateboarding programme for womxn in the Netherlands. Currently working on the development and implementation of programmes in Amsterdam.
Nanja van Rijsse
Nanja (she/her) co-founded Women Skate the World in 2018 during a volunteer trip in Palestine where she met Amber. After skateboarding helped her find her passions and skills she’s working to help others experience this too. Together with Kim, she started to expand Women Skate the World in the Netherlands. Outside of skateboarding she’s engaged in environmental volunteering jobs and always trying to catch up on some reading.
